Inspired by Tulips: 2 Day workshop, 17 & 18 May 2025: Deposit

Exuberant, colourful, glorious harbingers of Spring: is there anyone who doesn’t love tulips? So why not come and join me for a 2 day workshop, learning to use a gelli plate and homemade masks to create a beautiful concertina book celebrating their glory

We will start by using homemade masks and then learn to use these to create tulip imagery on the gelli plate. We will then cut up and combine these prints to make a concertina book and/or collages.  This deceptively simple technique can produce amazing results and has been the basis for many of my current pieces of work.

No previous experience is needed – this workshop is approachable from any level of knowledge

We will be based at Calcutt Village Hall in beautiful Knaresborough (right next to Harrogate in North Yorkshire). The hall is large and airy, and we also have use of a sitting room inf you need a break, kitchen for drinks and access to outside. The hall is fully disabled accessible, including disabled loos

Paints and a variety of papers will be provided, together with cards to create your concertina and larger sheets for collage if needed. I also have a large collection of gelli plates for you to use, but you may want to bring your own to be certain of getting the size you want, when you want. All you will need to bring will be scissors, a cutting knife and mat, plus a glue stick – so a nice small pack up

All refreshments, plus an M&S buffet lunch are included in the price.

Dates are Sat 17 May 2025 and Sunday 18 May 2025. We will start at 11am and run until 5pm on Saturday, to allow time for people travelling, and then start at 9.30 to 3.30 on Sunday, to allow for travelling home.   

Both Knaresborough and Harrogate, together with most of North Yorkshire are popular tourist destinations, so there are plenty of options for hotels. B&B or Air BnB   

Cost is £100/day which includes lunch, refreshments, tuition and most of your materials

Your deposit of £100 secures your place and pays for day 1. The balance of £100 will be invoiced in April 2025
