From Sketch to Stitch: starts 1 October 2025 Deposit

In this year long workshop we will be looking at 6 different themes for our inspiration. The course will be split into 6 x 2 monthly sessions, with each session focusing on one theme  as follows:  

• Still Life 
• John Pipers ‘Foliate Heads’
• Shells and pebbles
• A Fabric 
• Mosaics/Tiles
• Tropical plants  

In month 1 we will work in a sketchbook or on design sheet to investigate our theme, creating sketches, prints, imagery, colour palettes etc,. We will then start to plan a piece of artwork based on the information and ideas we have gathered. 

In month 2 we will consider what techniques to use to execute our design and prepare materials accordingly. We will then follow through to make a  smallish piece of artwork. This will be stitched and we will look at various methods of displaying and mounting the work  

By the end of the year you will have 6 pieces of artwork and knowledge of a good variety of techniques.  

The course is suitable for all students, as videos will cover everything you need to know and will assume no previous knowledge. Those with experience can watch as a recap or just progress to the next videos  

The course will have a classroom on my new teaching site  and also on Facebook. All information will go into both, so it’s up to you which you use. Facebook can make it easier to  chat with others on the course I think 

Videos will be dropped into the classrooms on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. You don’t have to be there on this day - it just helps to keep me organised if I have a specific day for posting them for you. Approx 3 - 4 hours each fortnight 

Cost is £40/ month and will be billed as £80 every other month. Your first deposit payment covers the first 2 months. 

Alternatively you can book 6 months at once for £200 - giving you a month free.
